Section 8 is a Federal Program that provides rental assistance to private landlords on behalf of low-income families.
The Jurisdictions for this program are the City of Rensselaer, Poestenkill, West Sand Lake, Wynantskill, Averill Park, Defreestville, East Greenbush and North Greenbush, as well as any area in Rensselaer County within a 30- mile radius of the city of Rensselaer that is not covered by a Section 8 office.
Application
For those wishing to apply for Public Housing through the Rensselaer Housing Authority, you must print and fill out the PDF application. Please review the first page of the packet to ensure that you have all the required documents. Please bring in ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS for ALL persons that will be living with you.
All applications MUST be dropped off in person Monday, Wednesday or Friday 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.
